Tokyo's Marunouchi area is welcoming the Tohoku region to Tokyo from mid-September, introducing its famous products and original dishes using local ingredients to the heart of Japan's capital city with 'Marutto Tohoku'.
From Saturday September 12th, Tohoku takes over Marunouchi, near Tokyo Station, with the Marunouchi Building, Shin-Marunouchi Building, Oazo, TOKIA and many others all participating in the month long celebration of Tohoku products.
Restaurants from across these locations will be offering Tohoku-inspired regional dishes on their menus, such as Matsushima oysters and Yonezawa carpaccio-style beef, alongside connected events and exhibitions occurring as part of a wider Tohoku Matsuri (festival) taking place between September 18th–23rd.
From a Sendai Tanabata Festival to Akita Kanto Festival (special lanterns hoisted up on bamboo poles), there will also be a huge regional product and souvenir exhibition hosted at Marunouchi Building's MaruCube event space, with hundreds of products from across Akita, Yamagata, Miyagi, Iwate, Aomori and Fukushima available to purchase.
Visit Tokyo's Marunouchi area during this time and you won't be disappointed!
