From the Nihongan Medicinal Museum to the Kuncho Sake Brewery Museum, Mameda Town is a preserved area full of history from its association with Tokugawa Shogunate.​ Today it is also known for its famous wooden geta as well as its Doll Festival. This place makes a pleasant weekend in the countryside of Oita prefecture, just over 80 minutes from Fukuoka.
