Oita Airport

A relaxing regional airport experience

With the 2019 Rugby World Cup just around the corner, and matches scheduled to be played at Oita Stadium, it's likely that Oita Airport will be receiving an influx of visitors. The airport itself is pleasant to transit through, with family friendly amenities like children's playgrounds, a spacious observation deck area where you can watch planes arrive and depart, and even a foot bath where you can rest your travel weary feet in the region's signature waters.

There are also a number of restaurants on site if you need to grab a bite to eat. If you're after a local specialty, try the toriten, otherwise known as tempura style fried chicken. It pairs fantastically with karashi, a spicy mustard you'll find across Japan.

The airport has flights that operate to and from Tokyo (Haneda and Narita), Osaka, Nagoya, and internationally to Seoul's Incheon Airport.

Getting there

Oita Airport is located approximately an hour's drive north of Oita City itself. Bus connections are available to Oita, and other popular tourist spots including Beppu and Yufuin. Details about transport facilities can be found on the Oita Airport website.
