Venue : Nishi Umeda Park and surrounds When : Wednesday - Jun 4th 2025, 4:00pm - 9:30pm

The annual Nishi Umeda Candle Days in the heart of Osaka’s Umeda area combines an evening of candlelit displays and cultural festivities. The event has now been running for two decades and draws thousands each time, lighting up the city with beautiful art and a vibrant atmosphere.

One of the main attractions of the event is the Candle Corridor, where over 1 kilometer of the city’s streets are transformed into an art gallery. The road will be lined with stunning candle art created by local artists, including works by students. These art pieces will be displayed from Hilton Plaza all the way to Nishi Umeda Park, offering visitors a chance to stroll through a luminous, creative landscape that captures the imagination.

At Candle Park (Nishi Umeda Park), visitors will encounter a stunning installation designed by the event's director, which has become a popular photo spot thanks to its intricate, candlelit design. Along with the visual beauty, the park will host a variety of engaging activities including workshops where participants can learn the art of candle-making. In addition, the evening will feature live performances including music from a symphony orchestra, and a selection of food trucks offering an array of eats and drinks to enjoy.

Alongside celebrating art and community, the event also has a strong focus on social responsibility. As part of ongoing efforts to support those affected by the Noto Peninsula earthquake, there will be a “lights off” initiative where all electric lights in the area will be turned off for two hours. The event will also feature message candles where participants can write and send messages of support, sending a message of hope and solidarity to those in need.
