Sukunahikona Shrine

A small shrine dedicated to health and wealth

Sukunahikona is a shrine located among tall buildings in the Doshmachi district, Osaka. It is said to have been established during the Annei Period in 1780 when many Japanese pharmaceutical companies started up here. Dosho-machi then is regarded a town of medicine, thus making it a shrine dedicated to the health and wealth of the district.

Gods of medicine Sukunahikona-no-mikoto and Shinno-shi, Japanese and Chinese respectively, are both enshrined here. Every year the Shinno Festvial is held here. Also included within the precincts of the shrine is the Doshomachi Pharmaceutical and Historical Museum.
