Exploring the Shinto shrine in southern Osaka

Connor Lappin   - 1 min read

Located in the suburban heart of southern Osaka sits the Sumiyoshi Taisha Temple precinct. Originally founded in 211, the temple is seen as the most important Sumiyoshi Temple in Japan. Sumiyoshi shrines are dedicated to Shinto deities associated with fisherman and those who travel by sea. The precinct is littered with a variety of different temples and is free to enter, being a short walk from Sumiyoshi Taisha station on the Nankai Main Line.
