Imari city, in Saga Prefecture, Kyushu, is located next to Imari Bay, though is sheltered from the open sea by several islands, protecting the city’s harbour. Once a base for Japanese pirates, by the Tokugawa era, Imari had become a trade and shipping hub for the fine porcelain manufactured at Arita, 6 miles (10 km) south.
Central Hotel Imari, situated next to Imari Station (JR Chikuhi and Matsuura lines), is a perfect base from which to visit the popular porcelain towns of Imari, Arita and Karatsu. The picturesque pottery village of Okawachiyama. for example, can be reached by bus in just 15 minutes from the JR train station, and it only costs 150 yen each way.
This modern hotel offers you the comfort and convenience you are looking for in Imari, at reasonable prices. You can choose from four different room types: single or deluxe single room, twin and deluxe twin room. The guest rooms are clean, well maintained and equipped with broadband internet, television, pay video, telephone and refrigerator. A buffet style breakfast with bread, fresh salad and coffee is included and available every morning from 7:00 AM to 9:30 AM.
You can find several shops and restaurants close-by - as a business hotel, Central Hotel Imari does not have its own restaurant. Max Valu is a supermarket offering a wide range of fresh and cooked food and there is also a Lawson combini (convenience store). I am always happy to have one of these 24/7 stores open nearby - they are an essential resource for travellers. With regard to restaurants, Café Restaurant Gusto, is just a couple of minutes walk from the hotel and is a good choice for lunch or dinner. They serve Japanese food as well as typical items found in the Western cuisine: steaks, burgers, pasta, soup, salads and a variety of desserts (with a Japanese twist). They offer free refills for their self-serve soft drinks.
If you are traveling by car you don’t need to worry about parking. The hotel has plenty of free parking spaces for about one hundred cars. The hotel also offers a range of standard facilities like vending machines, a laundry machine, copy- , fax- and mail services, as well as a relaxation room with books and games.
I stayed at this hotel for just a couple of days and I appreciated their great hospitality. The staff were warm, friendly and always helpful.
