Sunhotel Tosu is perfectly located nearby JR Tosu station, Tosu being a city located in Saga, Kyushu and it is an essential transportation hub for travelling to Fukuoka, Nagasaki and Kagoshima.
I didn’t know very much about Tosu and the area and there was no tourist information office at the station. So I decided to ask the hotel staff, and they were very helpful giving me all the information I needed about the city and its surroundings. One of the main attractions in the city is Tosu Premium Outlets, which is Kyushu’s greatest outlet mall, attracting shoppers from many locations. It is easily accessible by bus or train.
Not far from Tosu Premium Outlets there is the Nakatomi Memorial Medicine Museum where you can learn about the history of medicine in Japan and around the world. Another attraction of the city is Tosu Stadium. It is a football stadium that serves as a home ground of the Sagan Tosu club. It is also located close to Tosu station, just a couple of minutes walk from the hotel.
During my stay in Tosu I decided to use Tosu’s privileged location, which connects different areas by JR train lines, buses and expressways, to visit Dazaifu, a city of ancient culture in Fukuoka Prefecture. I really enjoyed this one day trip a lot; it was a nice 40 minutes train journey during which I used both JR line and Dazaifu line operated by Nishi-Nippon Railroad. Only on my return I realized the great number of restaurants and izakayas, convenience stores and another big shopping arcade within walking distance from my hotel. Time for dinner! I chose a nice sushi restaurant.
Later on, Sunhotel Tosu offered me a nice, very clean and comfortable guest room where I was able to relax after a long day and I had a restful sleep.
In the morning the hotel offers a buffet style breakfast from 6:30 am to 9:30 am. Usually, they prepare Japanese food including a delicious Miso soup, but some Western-style food is also available. You can definitely find all the necessary ingredients to make your own pizza on a toast!
I really spent a nice time at Sunhotel Tosu. Every staff member I talked to was friendly and extremely helpful making my stay warm and pleasant.
Earlier I wrote about Tosu as a convenient transportation hub using public transport; however, for those who decide to travel Japan by car I should tell you that the Hotel offers sufficient parking spaces free of charge.
