Running for over a decade now, the Inariyama Festa at Sayama Inariyama Prefectural Park is an event that remembers the Great East Japan Earthquake. The festival includes food trucks, hands-on workshops, and handicrafts and local produce for sale, with some of the proceeds from purchases supporting ongoing revitalization projects in the regions that were affected by the triple disaster.
There will also be a candle ceremony from 4.40pm until 6.30pm, where 1000 candles will be lit to both honor those who lost their lives in the tragedy, and to raise awareness of disaster prevention.
There is no admission fee to attend the event, but do bring yen if you plan on making purchases.
Getting there
Sayama Inariyama Prefectural Park can be accessed in just a minute on foot from Inariyamakoen Station, which is served by the Seibu Ikebukuro Line. On-site parking is available, but do anticipate it to be crowded for the event.
