A view of Mount Fuji unchanged in centuries

<p>Apart from the road, this view hasn't changed for centuries</p>

<p>There are more signs to follow as you walk from Okitsu station</p>

<p>The walk takes you through a temple graveyard</p>

<p>And here's the start of the pass proper</p>

<p>The path is lined with fruit trees</p>

<p>I found the rusted remains of what I guess was a chairlift</p>

<p>Every time you round a bend, there Mount Fuji is</p>

<p>It attracts a good number of photographers</p>

Between Okitsu and Yui stations on the outskirts of Shizuoka City, the Satta Toge pass is a trail up over a large hill overlooking the coast, made famous in an Ukiyo-e woodblock print by Hiroshige. It commands an impressive view of Mount Fuji from a number of vantage points along the walk, and on clear evenings you'll see plenty of amateur photographers training their cameras on the mountain as dusk settles over it.
