As Japan’s number one tea producing Prefecture, it’s no surprise that Shizuoka has a host of tea stores. One that I particularly enjoyed visiting in the region was Yamacho Meicha, who have over 100 years of experience in the industry.
The staff here are extremely knowledgeable and passionate about all things tea and are happy to offer samples so you can try before you buy. They’ll explain the different blends on offer and allow you to compare and contrast them.
Alongside the impressive range of tea on offer, there are a host of tea wares also available for purchase, including items like infuser bottles so you can take your favorite blend on the go with you.
Getting there
The Yamacho Meicha store is located in Mori, Shizuoka, as part of the Kotomachi Yokocho shopping precinct. Free parking is available at the site. It’s also right by the renowned Oguni Shrine, which is well worth a visit while you’re in the area.
