Kegon Falls in Nikko National Park

One of Japan's most beautiful waterfalls

Kegon Falls in Nikko National Park is one of the three most famous waterfalls in Japan. While it is said to be quite stunning in autumn, it also looked lovely surrounded by summer greens. A fairly dry summer meant the water flow was less than usual, so the spray didn't reach the viewing platform. The rocky cliff walls of the waterfall basin are impressive, and so is the elevator, which descends 100 meters through solid rock, and was built in the Taisho Era.
