From early June to early July, Tokyo's Showa Kinen Park transforms into a lush, rainy season paradise for its annual Hydrangea Walk. With over 9,000 hydrangea plants, the event celebrates Japan’s iconic rainy season flower in full bloom.
Visitors can enjoy picturesque walking paths lined with numerous hydrangea variants, perfect for leisurely strolls or photo opportunities. To enhance the experience, hydrangea-themed umbrellas are available to rent for free at park entrances. Whether shielding you from raindrops or the bright sun, they also serve as fun photo props.

This year’s highlights include the Hydrangea Umbrella Photo Spot at the northern slope of Fureai Plaza, where real hydrangeas and colorful umbrellas create a picturesque visual display. Additionally, in late June the Floating Flower installation near the Canal Fountain adds another artistic touch, featuring fresh hydrangeas arranged in water and ever-changing patterns that reward repeat visits.

The event also features a collaborative photo exhibition with the Akigawa Valley Hydrangea Festival, hosted at the Flower Garden Exhibition Hall (closed on select days). This exhibition showcases scenic hydrangea spots from nearby areas like Takahatafudoson and Shiofune Kannonji Temple.
No festival is complete without themed treats. Limited-edition sweets such as the Hydrangea Float, Minazuki Ice Cream, and Hydrangea Soft Serve are available throughout the park.
