A gigantic stone and incredible view at Kamikura-jinja

In Japan, things of nature that are large and beautiful are treated with awe and respect and are often venerated as being holy. This holy rock, Gotobiki Iwa (within Kamikura Shrine) is no exception. Before my visit, I didn't quite know what to expect. But when I finally made it up that long difficult climb, I was totally awed. It IS large, and it IS beautiful, and the view IS incredible. Come and see it!
