From April 22 (Fri) to June 26 (Sun), Sendai City Museum is hosting the Golden Pharaohs and Pyramids Exhibit. On display will be over 100 items covering the Old Kingdom of Egypt era, approximately 4,500 years ago. The items are being generously lent by the Egyptian Museum in Cairo, while the exhibit itself is supervised by Sakuji Yoshimura, a well-known Japanese authority on Egyptian studies.

Visitors will have a chance to unravel some of the common questions and deeper mysteries of Egypt, as well as see some of the culture's finest artifacts. Topics include pyramid construction, the royal family, and lifestyles of those who supported building the pyramids. History and art lovers can appreciate the millennia old intricate statues or jewelry. All can gaze in awe at the brilliant Golden Mask of King Amenemopet, known as one of the three great golden masks.

Museum hours: 9:00-16:45/ Open daily, except closed Mondays. Adult admission: 1,500 yen (includes access to the museum permanent collection). Access via Tozai subway line from Sendai Station to Kokusai Center Station and walk, Loople sightseeing bus, or 30 min walk from Sendai Station. More info here.
