Visa Changes for Asian Visitors

Indians and Vietnamese enjoy easing visa restrictions

Mandy Bartok   - 1 min read

Japan may see an influx of visitors from India and Vietnam in the near future, as visa restrictions for academics and business professionals are eased under new directives from Shinzo Abe's government. The previous five-year limitation on multiple-entry visas has been extended to a full decade, the longest length of time for any visa issued by the government.

Visitors from both countries must enter the country in the initial instance only for the purposes listed above. However, return visits may be for any reason, from tourism to social or family visits. The new visas came into effect on February 15th, 2016.

Government officials hope that the relaxed entry rules will increase business and cultural opportunities between Japan and the two nations.
