In spring 2023, Doge fans from around the world made their first pilgrimage to Japan to meet Atsuko Sato, known affectionately as Kabosumama, and her Shiba Inu Kabosu, the beloved face of the Doge meme. Later that year, on November 2, 2023, a bronze statue of Kabosu was unveiled in Sakura Hometown Square as part of the inaugural International Doge Day, bringing together fans from around the world in Sakura City, Chiba Prefecture.

In 2024, a special Kabosu manhole cover was unveiled in front of the shop Saranka at Sakura Furusato Hiroba, where the statue is located. The square remains a beautiful place for visitors to relax and enjoy seasonal flowers like tulips in spring, sunflowers in summer, and cosmos in autumn. Kabosu’s legacy, embodied in her message ‘Do Only Good Everyday,’ continues to inspire millions.

The 3rd International Doge Day celebration will take place on November 2, 2025, at Sakura Hometown Square, from 11:00 AM to 5:00 PM.

What To Expect

On Doge Day, Sakura Hometown Square will be filled with dogs, meme lovers, and visitors from around the world. Visitors can look forward to speeches by the Mayor of Sakura City, Atsuko Sato (Kabosumama), and OTD, followed by a lively Doge cosplay contest and janken (rock-paper-scissors) tournament with prizes. Craft and merchandise booths will offer Doge themed souvenirs, while food trucks, Doge Day trivia, and a dance party ensure there is fun for everyone. Fans will also have the chance to meet meme icons such as Bad Luck Brian and David Vujanic.
