For anyone interested in the sea, Fukushima Aquamarine is a great place to visit.
The main tank mimics what occurs off the coast of Fukushima when the warm Black Current (Kuroshio) from the south meets the cold Kurile Current (Oyashio) from the north. A unique triangular glass tunnel takes visitors 'into' this tank.
During the 2011 disaster, the aquarium was heavily damaged. However, after much hard work, the aquarium was re-opened to the public on July 15, 2011. As the aquarium is very educational and includes a number of hands-on exhibits, it is a very popular destination for families.
