For nearly a quarter of a century, Kobe has come alive each summer with the Kobe Love Port Festival, which serves as a tribute to the city's enduring bond with the sea. Held at scenic Meriken Park along the waterfront, the event brings locals and visitors together to celebrate the maritime spirit that has long shaped Kobe's identity.
Dedicated to honoring the port that has driven Kobe's cultural exchange and economic growth, the festival features colorful performances, participatory events, and displays that showcase the city's history. Each year's theme captures the essence of the season (for 2025 the theme is "Color the Summer"), with photogenic installations and attractions that make the celebration as visually striking as it is fun. With dynamic stage shows and community activities to food stalls and picturesque water views, there's something for every visitor to enjoy.

More than just a weekend of fun, the Kobe Love Port Festival deepens residents’ pride in their city and invites travelers to experience Kobe's unique blend of tradition, modern energy, and coastal charm.
There is no admission fee to attend the event, but bring along some yen if you plan on making any purchases at the food stalls. For event updates, follow along at the festival's official Instagram account here.
