A hotel with a UNESCO World Cultural Heritage site, a tasteful local winery, a majestic mountain, and a peaceful farm all within a one-hour driving radius sounds pretty grand, doesn’t it? Welcome to Hotel Folkloro Hanamaki Towa!

In addition to being ideally located near a few of Iwate’s incredible attractions, why not also enjoy complimentary visits to the neighboring onsen hotel while you are here? And after your stay, take a breezy entrance onto the Kimaishi Expressway, or a 15-minute stroll to Tsuchizawa Station, and head onwards to your next destination.

Upon arrival into the hotel’s lobby, which is stocked with local Iwate food products and a stylish library by the window, you are greeted warmly by the reception staff. Although they did not speak much English and I do not speak much Japanese, the staff managed to communicate with me successfully using key English words and were incredibly eager to offer any kind of assistance.

Hotel Folkloro Hanamaki Towa gives guests the options of staying in a Twin Room, a Family Room, either Western-styled or a fusion of Japanese and Western styles, or a Barrier-Free Room. This selection of different rooms cater towards different guests. Twin Rooms are compact, providing all the basic necessities for a short business or leisure stay. Family Rooms can accommodate up to four people, perfectly spacious for a family to stay in. Alternatively, guests can request to have connecting Twin Rooms instead of one large Family Room. Lastly, the Barrier-Free Rooms enables easy access for the elderly and wheelchair users, as the room is free of steps and fitted with lower furniture.

Once you have settled into your room, feel free to make yourself a pot of complimentary tea or slip into a hotel yukata, grab your towels and onsen basket, and pamper yourself at Towa Onsen. The entrance to Towa Onsen can be accessed via an indoor pathway located behind a door near the hotel’s reception desk. Make sure to treat yourself to Towa Onsen’s outdoor onsen in the evening, as well as its two, indoor onsen's that are open early in the morning for your enjoyment.

After a relaxing herbal soak, it is time to refuel! Take a seat at Hotel Folkloro’s Promotion Conference of Chisan Chisho certified two-star restaurant for a scrumptious meal from their extensive menu of dishes showcasing the fresh local produce, as well as various local beers and sake. The restaurant is open for dinner from 5:00pm to 9:00pm, with last orders at 8:30pm. If, however, you are still craving another drink after closing time, saunter over next door to the hotel’s cafe and bar, which is open from 5:00pm to 10:00pm to serve you a fine selection of locally produced liquor, coffee, tea, and other drinks. And once you wake up the next day from a refreshing slumber, there will be a healthy buffet-style breakfast awaiting you from 6:30am to 9:00am. Have a seat by the window and enjoy the morning scenery, complete with a few goats in the back garden.

If you intend to visit the Hanamaki area for a few days, or just need a comfortable place for a brief one night rest, Hotel Folkloro Hanamaki Towa is an ideal accommodation for anybody on the road in Iwate.
