Hakone’s Ashino-ko Lake

Well-developed, popular resort area

Tomoko Kamishima   - 1 min read

Ashino-ko Lake is 723m above sea level, 21.1km around, and 7.1km2. The same type of dam-up lake, Chuzen-ji Lake in Nikko, sits much higher (1269m above sea level) and is 1.6 times larger than Ashino-ko Lake. Because of easy access from Tokyo, her great beauty, and breathtaking views of Mt. Fuji, the lakeside of Ashino-ko is well developed and has become one of Japan’s most popular hot springs resort areas. If you get a chance, please stay at a hotel along her shores and feel the fullness of her charm.
