Kanagawa Shimbun Fireworks Display

Kicking off Yokohama’s biggest event with a bang

Needing no introduction to the summertime festivities was Yokohama’s 29th annual firework display, officially known as ‘Kanagawa Shimbun Hanabi’. Boasting over 15,000 fireworks, Yokohama’s biggest display certainly didn’t disappoint anyone this time around.

The scene was perfectly set with an endless wave of spectators converging upon Minato Mirai’s bustling port area. Whist many people were still arriving others had obviously been waiting patiently for a few hours, enjoying the atmosphere with the help of several drinks.

Amongst the swarming crowds, many people were dressed in Yukata (a summer Kimono), whose bright colors were almost as dazzling as the fireworks themselves.
