Kanagawa's Kurihama Flower Park is a sprawling venue which is home to a wide array of floral beauty throughout the seasons, including poppies and nemophila (also known as baby blue eyes) during spring. During this period an annual festival takes place to celebrate the blooms, and it's free of charge to enjoy.
The poppy field is particularly impressive, with around one million of the flowers to enjoy.
On the last two days of the festival, there will also be a free flower picking event where attendees can pick flowers from the poppy garden to take home.
Getting there
The Kurihama Flower Park is located approximately 15 minutes on foot from either JR Kurihama Station or Keikyu Kurihama Station.
For those who opt to drive, the venue is around 4 kilometers from the Sawara Interchange on the Yokohama-Yokosuka Road. Paid on-site parking is available, and is charged at ¥ 630 per regular-sized vehicle.
