Tea and tranquility at Daiho-in Garden

Myoshin-ji Temple complex is one of my favorite places to visit in Kyoto, simply because I don't know what delights I am going to find each time I go there. This time, in early May, Daiho-in Temple was welcoming visitors to its garden. I sat on the open veranda tatami with a beautiful view of the garden. Traditional Japanese tea and a sweet was served. All was quiet. All was tranquil. A bird sang. The sound of water dripping out of bamboo into a small moss covered fountain blended with the bird's sweet voice. I dozed. Heaven!
