Myoshin-ji Temple is a unique complex of 46 small temples, all gathered together in one location under the umbrella of the Rinzai School of Zen Buddhism. This is a huge collection of temples and depending on the time of the year, some are open to the public while others are not. But just walking through the grounds, peeking over walls and through gates is totally fascinating. Give yourself plenty of time and enjoy experiencing a variety of gardens, temple buildings, interesting people, and whatever other surprises you might find.
