Kyoto's Kamigamo Shrine is one of the oldest and most revered Shinto shrines in the country, and it was designated as a UNESCO World Heritage site due to its historical and cultural significance. The shrine's tranquil and picturesque surroundings create a serene atmosphere for visitors, and a special event with digital art collective NAKED this summer will add some additional color to the mix.
NAKED Summer Evening Cool is set to run from July 7th until July 17th, and will include lanterns, an illuminated Romon gate (designated as an Important Cultural Propery), windchimes, and the opportunity to soak your feet in Nara-no-ogawa, the river running through the shrine grounds.
Usually the shrine closes at 5pm, so the event presents a unique opportunity to appreciate the grounds as the sun goes down.
Please note that is a ticketed event, with admission priced at ¥2500.
