In June, the Sun Frontier Fudoyama Group will open Japanese hot spring resort hotels Shijo Kawaramachi Onsen Sky Garden Terrace Kyoto and Shijo Kawaramachi Onsen Betsu Kamegawa in Shijo Kawaramachi, Kyoto. These unique hotels in one building aim to attract everyone, from wealthy individuals to solo travelers. To cap that off, this property is owned by Sun Frontier Fudousan and is operated by its consolidated subsidiary, Sun Frontier Hotel Management.

The brand new Shijo Kawaramachi Onsen Hotel is just a few minutes' walk from Kyoto's popular shopping districts, Shijo Dori and Kawaramachi Dori. It is divided into 102 Japanese-style rooms, Sora Niwa Onsen Terrace Kyoto, and 32 luxurious Kamogawa Betsuki.

Even better, all Bettei Kamogawa rooms offer an open-air bath where you can enjoy an elegant stay with a spacious living room and terrace. A Silky Jacuzzi Bath is also available for visitors, this leaves the skin moist and smooth. The rooms on the ground floor also have a small outdoor waterfall that can be seen from the bedroom and bathroom.

However, the best thing about this hotel is an endless hot spring (communal bath) on the top floor facing Higashiyama, which offers panoramic views of the city. The hot springs are open to both the Sora Niwa Onsen Terrace and Kamogawa Bettei.

From the rooftop of Sora Niwa Terrace, people can also enjoy a spectacular view from Kamogawa to Kiyomizu-dera. Open to both guests and visitors, there are plenty of relaxing sofas to keep you warm in the cold season with footbaths and campfires. In the evening, we recommend drinking one or two glasses from the cocktail menu while gazing at the Kyoto skyline.

Shijo Kawaramachi Onsen is currently scheduled to open on June 20, 2022, and rooms at each venue of both hotels can be booked from the websites of Solaniwa Terrace Kyoto and Kamogawa Betti.

Getting there

The hotel is a minute walk from Hankyu Railway's Kyoto Kawaramachi Station, or four minutes walk from Keihan Main Line Gion Shijo Station. From JR Kyoto Station it is approximately 10 minutes by taxi
