<p>I could have stood for hours before this view</p>

<p>Strange shellfish propelling its way through the water</p>

<p>A swimming octopus, all legs and suckers</p>

<p>A magnificent lionfish (also known as zebrafish, firefish, turkeyfish or butterfly-cod!)</p>

<p>The aquarium was built on the edge of Umekoji Park near Kyoto Station</p>

<p>There is a train museum nearby the aquarium  </p>

Kyoto Aquarium was built on the edge of Umekoji Park near Kyoto Station. The beautifully designed facility boasts a fascinating collection of water creatures. Dolphins, seals and penguins are popular with visitors, but my personal favorites were the jellyfish and octopuses. They also have a collection of river dwellers which includes giant salamanders.
