My plan was to spend some time in the amazing and fascinating city of Nagasaki. I wanted to explore each inch of the city, and Hotel Cuore Nagasaki-Ekimae was exactly what I was looking for.
This hotel offers great value in an excellent location, just in front of the main station (JR Nagasaki station) and therefore pretty much in the center of town. So it is a perfect base for sightseeing and traveling around the city. Nagasaki Prefectural bus station is also just around the corner (it's a 2-minute walk), and the streetcars stop right in front of the hotel. This was actually the best, as I love streetcars and I love cities where you can still enjoy them. They are so convenient to move around and they are cheap. A one-way trip (any line) costs 120 yen (60 yen for children), but you also can purchase a one-day streetcar pass for only 500 yen (250 yen for children), which offers unlimited rides on the streetcars on all lines. You cannot buy this pass on the streetcar, but they are available at the tourist information center located inside JR Nagasaki station or at most hotels.
What else does it mean to be located in one of the most vibrant areas of this city? It means that I actually have everything just around me; there is a shopping mall just in front of the hotel with plenty of shops, restaurants and a cinema; there are convenience stores open 24 hours, several izakayas to enjoy the traditional Nagasaki cuisine, fast food restaurants, coffee shops and more. What else do I need?
This smart hotel features an elegant lobby with a cozy lounge. I don’t usually spend much time in hotel lobbies, but here it was different. In the lounge you can find and internet corner where two laptop computers and a color printer are available. There is also a free drinks service providing hot and cold coffee, tea and water. This lounge became my office during my stay at Hotel Cuore, and it is also a great place to meet people and have a chat with them.
The guestroom was nice, clean and comfy. It provided everything I needed for a great stay and a relaxing sleep. The staff was friendly, courteous and smiling all the time.
For a very reasonable price of only 300 yen you can enjoy a buffet-style breakfast (Japanese and Western food available) from 6:30 am to 10:00 am.
All in all it is an ideal choice for sightseeing and enjoying the wonderful and exotic Nagasaki.
