One of the highlights of the journey is the breathtaking view of the Tadami River, which can be seen from the train as it crosses over several steel girder bridges. The views have also become popular with those not riding the train, with certain lookout points loved by amateur and professional photographers alike.

As mentioned above, the route passes through several charming rural towns and villages, where passengers can explore traditional Japanese architecture and sample local cuisine. In the winter months the line is especially popular as it traverses areas with heavy snowfall, showcasing a wonderland of white landscapes.
