Tokamachi Ajisai Park

A reason to savor Japan's rainy season

Japan's rainy season isn't all doom and gloom - there are many examples of beauty and color during that time of year, and ajisai, or hydrangeas, have to be one of the best. If you're in Niigata during the rainy season, the Tokamachi Ajisai Park has plenty of the gorgeous blooms to enjoy.

Paths weave up and down the hillside, allowing you to stroll around at your leisure and soak up the flowers in all their glory. Even if it's raining cats and dogs when you visit, the tranquility and picturesque surroundings will have you feeling anything but melancholy.

Access to the park is free.

Getting there

The Tokamachi Ajisai Park is best accessed via private transportation - it's a little off the beaten path and not an easy walking distance from any nearby train stations. Free parking is available on site.

If you're headed there via public transport, the park is approximately a fifteen minute taxi ride from Tokamachi Station.
