Located in the heart of the city, the Grand Plaza Nakatsu Hotel is a great place to stay. Just a 4 minute walk from Nakatsu Station, it is just 8 minutes by bicycle to the famous Nakatsu Castle, and also located opposite a well-known restaurant - Marukiyo. Everything is accessible by bike, so you won't need to rent a car or use public transportation when staying in Nakatsu.
This 8-floor hotel is extremely well maintained and I was impressed by the cleanliness immediately when I entered the hotel. My first experience of the hotel's excellent hospitality began at reception when I tried to check in. Even though the receptionist couldn't understand my English, they were extremely patient and understanding.
I stayed in a single-bed standard room, with breakfast included. The room was spacious, well-designed and spotless. It had all the modern amenities, and the bathroom was well-equipped. The bed was comfortable, and everything about the room was cozy and comforting.
The hotel has four types of rooms. The Standard Single, the Standard Single with sofa, the Semi-Double, and the Twin. The prices of these rooms are really low for the quality of services they offer. Starting from ¥4,800 for the Standard Single to ¥14,500 for the Twin, these are the best prices for a luxury stay you can find in Nakatsu City (Rates are approximate and subject to availability. These rates also do not include breakfast).
Another thing worth mentioning is the breakfast service and the quality of food. This was delicious and included both traditional Japanese food and western food. The famous Karaage chicken of Nakatsu is also served during breakfast. There are plenty of options available. From a variety of fresh fruit juices, to curry and rice, this breakfast can make for a great start to your day!
The excellent service, hospitality and cleanliness really enhances the luxurious reputation of this hotel. The staff are well-trained, very friendly, and will always greet you. They will try their best to help you, whether you speak Japanese or English. The General Manager was keen to showcase the Japanese breakfast buffet, when he was passing the restaurant during the morning. Everyone is extremely helpful and responsive to your needs - often stopping what they are doing just to make sure you are enjoying your stay.
Grand Plaza Nakatsu Hotel boasts many rooms, banquet halls and a spacious restaurant too. They have three banquet halls and several other areas for corporate meetings, events and special occasions. Overall, the Grand Plaza Nakatsu Hotel offers world-class services and is definitely one of the best places to stay in if you visit Nakatsu.
