The TeamLab digital art collective has a permanent display at the Nagai Botanical Garden in Osaka City, but it also offers some limited-time seasonal displays there throughout the year. This autumn, they are hosting a cosmos-themed event titled Life is Flickering, Light Floating in the Dark, and like other TeamLab exhibits it has an interactive component.
The illuminated cosmos shine more brightly and emit sounds when people stand close to them, and this creates a unique atmosphere where visitors are aware of others passing by. You can get an idea of what to expect via the video below – please note this was at a nemophila flower event rather than the cosmos you'll see in autumn.
The event dates are from November 3rd to 25th at this stage, but please note that as it's a flower-dependent event these dates may change. In addition, the event may be cancelled in the case of inclement weather.
Getting there
The Nagai Botanical Garden is located around 800 meters on foot from Nagai Station on the Osaka Metro Midosuji Line.
For those who opt to drive, the venue is a short distance from the Komagawa Exit of the Hanshin Expressway (Matsubara Route/Route 14). There are several on-site parking lots available.
