One of the biggest nature conservatories in Japan, Sakuya Konohana Kan was built as the main pavilion for Expo' 90 that had the theme 'Harmonious Co-existence between People and Greenery'. The building is made from 5000 glass panels and is shaped to look like a water lily. The conservatory houses 15,000 plants of 2,600 different species, which are arranged by climatic/geographical zones. Some of the highlights are the Blue Himalayan Poppy, the Victoria Lily and many varieties of orchids. Situated next to Tsurumiryokuchi Park, it's a great place to visit for plant and garden lovers, as well as photo enthusiasts.
