The city of Chichibu in Saitama is renowned for its festivals, with over 300 events held in the area annually. A new one that combines projection mapping with historic locations is Night Walk Chichibu, which is the brainchild of digital art collective NAKED.
Scheduled on Fridays and Saturdays from January 27 to February 19, the event brings colorful illuminations to several locations around the city. Part of the event includes a projection mapping display inspired by the Chichibu Night Festival, which is is considered as one of the three great float festivals in all of Japan.
Please note that whilst parts of the event are free, there is a 500 yen admission fee to enter the Chichibu Festival Hall portion.
Getting there
The event takes place at various locations around Chichibu City, including Chichibu Station, Chichibu Shrine, and the Chichibu Festival Hall. A map with locations can be found on the official event website.
The station is served by the Chichibu Railway's Chichibu Main Line.
