Shizuoka's Acao Forest is home to 13 themed gardens, with 9 of them focused on roses. In particular, the English Rose Garden is famous for its wild rose varieties which are difficult to see elsewhere in Japan. The Acao Rose Festa is billed as one of the best rose events in the Kanto region, with around 4000 roses covering an incredible 600 species to enjoy.
There are other flowers too, such as blue foxgloves and delphiniums, creating some beautifully colorful landscapes.
Along with the wide variety of flowers to appreciate, the event is also set to include hands-on workshops and food menus incorporating roses. Please note that the workshops come with an additional fee.
Admission to Acao Forest is priced at 4000 JPY for adults, 1000 JPY for children (elementary school students), and free for preschoolers. Please also note that while a start date for the event is given, the end date is open – expect around the end of May.
Getting there
Acao Forest can be accessed via a free shuttle bus service from Atami Station. More information on timetables can be found on the Acao Forest website here.
