Joshun-ji and Myosen-ji

Neighbouring Buddhist temples in Shimizu, Shizuoka

A few minutes' walk south of Shimizu station in the suburbs of Shizuoka, Joshun-ji and Myosen-ji are two small, neighbouring Buddhist temples, separated only by a low wall between their respective graveyards. Joshun-ji has a couple of interesting Buddhist statues, and the incense wafting around lent it a spiritual atmosphere. There's less to see at Myosenji until you look up under the eaves of the main hall, where you'll find an impressive carved dragon waiting to leap out.
