Itasha cars are unique vehicles decorated with elaborate and colorful anime, manga, or video game-themed decals, and an upcoming event in Shizuoka is set to showcase a wide variety of them. The Shizuoka Itasha Heaven event is set to take place on Japan's Culture Day public holiday (November 3rd), and will include around 130 Itasha cars for attendees to check out.
Another fun component of the event is the cosplay element. Many attendees come dressed as their favorite anime or manga characters, and try to find Itasha cars that match what they're wearing.
Admission to the event itself is free of charge, but there is a 1000 JPY fee for cosplayers which includes a changing room usage fee and cloakroom fee.
Getting there
The event takes place at Shimizu Marine Park, which is located around 15 minutes on foot from Shin-Shimizu Station on the Shizuoka-Shimizu Line. On-site parking is also available for those who opt to drive.
