The Toki no Sumika Illumination event takes place at the Gotemba Kogen Resort annually, and is now in its 19th year. There are a range of different displays for visitors to enjoy, including a tunnel of light which runs for almost 400 meters, a 20-meter-high (and 120 year old!) illuminated tree, and the Versailles Lights water laser show. There are plenty of places which make for fantastic photo spots, so be sure to bring your camera!
Admission to the event is free, but there are some areas which come with a fee, such as the aquarium section.
Getting there
The Gotemba Kogen Resort is located around 5 minutes by taxi from Fujioka Station, served by the Gotemba Line.
For those who plan to drive to the venue, it's around a 10 minute drive from either the Gotemba IC or the Susono IC on the Tomei Expressway. Parking is available on-site for over 2000 vehicles.
