The northern lights (also often referred to as aurora borealis) are a natural phenomenon that typically occurs in high-latitude areas around the Arctic circle. For a limited time this winter, Tokyo's Hotel Chinzanso is bringing a unique illumination event to the city that emulates the northern lights in the heart of the urban jungle.
The Aurora of the Forest event is scheduled to run from November 11th until February 7th, with the aurora lights appearing 7 times a day (7pm, 7.30pm, 8pm, 8.30pm, 9pm, 9.30pm, and 10pm) for about 5 minutes each time.
Getting there
Hotel Chinzanso is located approximately 10 minutes on foot from the Tokyo Metro Yurakucho Line's Edogawabashi Station -- take Exit 1a.
For those who opt to drive, the hotel is around 5 minutes from the Waseda offramp on the Metropolitan Expressway #5. Paid on-site parking is available, and it's charged at a rate of 500 yen for each 30 minutes up to two hours.
