Pokémon is turning 30 in 2026, and Japan is celebrating with plenty of special events and experiences for fans. This autumn, one of the most fun ways to join the celebrations will be in the heart of Tokyo, where more than 100 Pokémon will appear across the Nihonbashi and Yaesu areas.
"Legendary Pokémon Encounter: Legend Research in Nihonbashi & Yaesu" runs from September 9 to November 29, turning the city into a giant Pokémon adventure. As part of the event, 19 Pokémon, including Legendary Pokémon, will appear as life-size statues, while many more Pokémon will be displayed throughout the area. In total, visitors can look out for more than 100 Pokémon both inside and outside buildings.
The Pokémon displays are free to enjoy, so you can simply explore Nihonbashi and Yaesu on foot while keeping an eye out for your favourites. Statues and displays will be located at places including Nihonbashi Mitsui Tower, COREDO Muromachi Terrace and Tokyo Midtown Yaesu.
For fans looking for something more interactive, a paid mystery-solving experience called "Pokémon Legend Research: Awaken the Legendary Research Report!" invites participants to follow clues, investigate Pokémon appearances and solve a mystery as they explore the area. Created by puzzle-solving group RIDDLER, the experience is designed to be accessible even for first-time puzzle solvers.
The event also offers a great reason to explore Nihonbashi, one of Tokyo's historic districts, while experiencing a very modern side of Japan. Event-exclusive merchandise, including T-shirts, mugs, acrylic stands and keychains, will also be available at Tokyo Midtown Yaesu.
