On September 1st, the largest city in the Tohoku region, Sendai, started an internet video/telephone consultation service aimed at attracting more foreign tourists to the region. International travelers visiting the Tourist Information Center (TIC) Tokyo are now able to recieve real-time tourism information and consultation in English with the Sendai Tourism Information Center. This is the first time this type of service has been offered in the Tohoku region.

The Sendai Tourism Center is located on the second floor of JR Sendai Station. The new center built in April this year replaced the much smaller previous center, and added many new services. Thier new consulting service is through Skype, an internet telepone and video chat service. Now dedicated staff are "able to answer questions and give real-time tourist information to visitors at TIC TOKYO" and "do it face-to-face and with a friendly smile".

Tourists may use this free service at TIC TOKYO. It is located on the first floor of the Marunouchi Trust Tower North Building next to Tokyo Station. Open 10:00-19:00 daily (closed Dec 31st-Jan 3rd).
