Toyama Prefecture is known for its natural beauty, and the spring months showcase this in abundance. There are numerous festivals in the region that celebrate seasonal blooms, and one well worth checking out is the Nyuzen Flower Road event.
An incredible 2.3 million tulips covering about 70 varieties fill an area of over 5 hectares, complete with the stunning Japanese Alps as a backdrop.
There is no admission fee to check out the stunning array of flowers, so be sure to check it out if you're in the area. Please note the event specifies a start date, but the end date is simply listed as late April. The blooms are likely to be at their best around the middle of April.
Getting there
The Nyuzen Flower Road can be accessed in around 15 minutes on foot (or 5 minutes by taxi) from Nyuzen Station, which is served by the Ainokaze Toyama Railway Line.
For those who opt to drive, the venue is around 10 minutes from the Nyuzen Smart IC on the Hokuriku Expressway. Please note you need an ETC (electronic toll collection) device to go through the smart interchanges.
