Strolling Fukui's Shopping Streets

Galleria Motomachi and Kitano-Sho Streets

In Fukui, as in most other cities in the countryside, people don't walk much, but mainly drive, since public transportation is not well developed and you have to drive to wherever you want to go. Well, I'm just making excuses because it's a bit embarrassing to say, but I'd never really walked on any of the shopping streets near JR Fukui Station though I've been here for four long years! Anyway, the other day I walked on some of them for the first time when I visited the 'Kitano-Sho Castle Ruins', which is about a five-to-ten-minute walk from JR Fukui Station. And surprisingly, a lot of the shops and restaurants here looked stylish and nice! I guess I had underestimated Fukui...I'll have to 'walk' these streets more often to learn about Fukui better!
