<p>Closer look at one of the small shrines inside Kehi Jingu Shrine</p>

<p>As soon as you enter the main torii gate of Kehi Jingu Shrine, you'll see on the left the small stone torii gate and pathway leading to one of the smaller shrines on the grounds</p>

<p>Even though it is a small shrine, it's decorated respectably with a beautiful pathway and stone lanterns</p>

<p>This one is called, 'Sarutahiko Shrine', and it was enshrined here in 1775</p>

<p>Inside 'Kushanomiya (Nine Shrines)', there are nine smaller, similar shrines lined up</p>

<p>This lady was praying fervently in front of each shrine</p>

<p>These are called 'Shinmei Ryo-gu (Shinmei Twin Shrines). They were enshrined here in 1612 and 1615</p>

<p>Closer look at Tsunuga Shrine. The small shrines inside Kehi Jingu all look respectable and are well-maintained as opposed to some small shrines in other shrines which usually look abandoned</p>

<p>This is not a shrine but some monument to indicate this is the place where the original main shrine building was located. Still, it has a respectable torii gate</p>

<p>It really was small, but the grounds were well maintained</p>

On the grounds of Kehi Jingu Shrine in Tsuruga city, Fukui prefecture, there are 14 or more smaller shrines. Usually, when you go to any shrine you'll find other smaller shrines inside it, won't you? But what surprises you here is that these small shrines here are all very well-maintained and most of them have a respectable stone torii gate at each entrance. Not like some small shrines old and abandoned in the woods! I usually miss or ignore those shrines if they are obscure, but here, the whole premises is well designed so that if you follow the pathway you'll bump into them no matter how much you want to ignore them!
