The arrival of the colder months means that various illumination events start popping up on the calendar, and the Himeji Otemae Street Illumination will see almost a quarter of a million full-color LEDs brightly decorating the camphor and ginkgo trees along the popular walkway. The street stretches all the way from Himeji Station to Himeji Castle, providing some great views along the way.
Along with all of the twinkling lights to enjoy, there will also be some fun photo spots set up which are perfect for snapping a festive Instagrammable photo – or several!
If you plan on attending, please note that the lights will be illuminated from sunset until 10pm on weekdays, but those hours extend to midnight on Saturdays, Sundays, and public holidays.
Getting there
Himeji Station is served by several train lines, including the San'yō Shinkansen, the San'yō Main Line, the Bantan Line, and the Kishin Line.
