On February 7th in 2015, I visited Kanazawa City in Ishikawa Prefecture, sometimes called 'Little Kyoto', for the first time in many years.
JR Kanazawa Station was bustling with people due to the coming opening of the Shinkansen in March. Various events are being held here, including test rides of the new Shinkansen for the general public before the opening. I walked past the hustle and bustle of the station which bore no resemblance to the station of my memory, and passed through the Noren curtain of a Japanese restaurant, Hibi Sakanazuki Touboku. It is a small restaurant which seats only ten customers, but they serve delicious dishes made of fresh seafood with light seasoning to bring out the flavor of raw ingredients. I enjoyed to my heart's content the classic, elegant seafood dishes they served me!
