Kamakura Asaba-ya Unagi Restaurant

Try Japanese food after visiting Hase Kannon Temple

By Tomoko Kamishima    - 1 min read

Asaba-ya is a Japanese restaurant along the street to Hase Kannon. It is opposite an old but attractive inn, Taisen-kaku. They specialize in unagi (grilled eel), but also serve some other Japanese dishes such as tempura and fish.

If you are the type of a person who thinks "When in Rome do as the Romans do," please try grilled eel and Japanese sake! It could be a great experience for you here in Japan. There are many cute little decorations in the shop: doll furniture, food knick-knack, hanging ornaments, and so on.

Japan is a small island nation, but we have a huge number of surprising things to discover here. Many of these delights can be found when you step off the main street onto small side paths. I really enjoy studying about and researching various aspects of traditional Japanese culture, and then sharing this information with visitors to Japan. I hope you will enjoy it, too!
