Amano-Hashidate to Maizuru

Summer cycling along Kyoto's beautiful coastline

<p>The road follows the curves of the coastline</p>

<p>A beautiful bay with white sand along its edge</p>

<p>Railway and road travel side by side along the coast  </p>

<p>This is a camping ground entrance, with a lovely beach</p>

<p>This beach looked so inviting but I couldn't find a way down from the road</p>

The stretch of coast between Amano-Hashidate and Maizuru offered smooth cycling on a very nice road with wonderful views of the ocean. Pine trees clung to rocky outcrops, and white sandy beaches bordered the blue, blue sea. I wanted to continue up the coast towards Fukui, but after four days of cycling my body was exhausted, so with regret I finished my trip at Maizuru.
