Yukyuzan Park

Home to a bounty of color throughout the seasons

If you're in Niigata and looking for a park that really epitomizes seasonal beauty, then Yukyuzan Park is well worth a visit. The park is perhaps best known as one of the prefecture's top sakura viewing spots, and the grounds are home to an annual festival celebrating the 2500 (give or take!) cherry blossom trees in all their glory. It doesn't disappoint in other seasons either, with the autumn months also drawing in plenty of visitors from the local area.

Aside from the bounty of natural beauty to enjoy, the park has plenty of other attractions that make it a great place to check out. One of those attractions is a small zoo which is home to over 20 different types of animals, including Japanese macaques, peacocks, and rabbits to name just a few. It's a very popular spot with young families, and admission to the zoo (and the park itself) is free of charge. There is also a local history museum, a swimming pool, baseball field, an iris garden, and a traditional Japanese garden to enjoy when you visit.

Parents looking for a way for their children to burn off some energy will also be pleased to know that there is plenty of open space for running around, and various types of playground equipment including large slides, climbing frames, and swings.
